Maimunah is an active and experienced training consultant in the field of Thinking Skills, Creativity, Leadership, Organisational Management and Self Development. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Malaya and an honors degree in Geography from the same university. She has 21 years of managerial experience in the Malaysian Public Sector, where she commenced her service in University of Malaya. Subsequently, as a Diplomatic and Administrative Officer she served Prime Minister Department, Inland Revenue Board and lastly before she became an independent training consultant, she served the National Training Institute of Public Sector.
She served the National Training Institute of Public Sector for more than 7 years where she was involved in the area of training and development of human resources. In relation with this, Maimunah was one of rare trained and certified instructor of Dr. Edward de Bono's method in Malaysia from 1999 - 2007: Lateral Thinking, Six Thinking Hats, Direct Attention Thinking Tools, and Simplicity. These thinking tools among others are to help individuals to be focused in thinking-executing, be creative by challenging the dominant pattern of thinking, be productive in group thinking by paralleling their thinking, and how to simplify work processes in organisation.
She also is a trained and Qualified Buzan (Tony Buzan) Instructor where she trains individuals to be whole-brained, focused, creative in solving problems and making decisions by using Mind Map. Mind Map is an organisational thinking tool that helps individual or groups generate and organise thoughts visually.
Maimunah also is a Certified Instructor of Psychology Test Level I, II, Leadership and Team Building of MBTI (Myer's Briggs Type Indicator). MBTI through its assessment method is helping individuals to understand psychological preferences of him and others on how people perceive the world and make decisions.
Through times, she has observed and realised some of the deficiencies of approaches in training that relied solely on knowledge that is based on certain perspective only. At present, while facilitating her training, Maimunah is at all times keen, committed, feel indebted and trying wherever possible, in using integrated and systemic approach: associating management practices, thinking tools from various perspectives particularly to examine from Islamic worldview.
Throughout her 7 years experience as a training facilitator in public-private organisation and 6 years as an independent training consultant, Maimunah has facilitated training for thousands of participants from various backgrounds of public, private, international organisations. She has since 2005 facilitated training with an international training company based in middle east-gulf states. Her assignments are in thinking tools, creativity, creative problem solving and decision-making.
She has written 6 books in the Malaysia's national language, under the topics of Thinking, Creativity and Self Development.
